BRINGING THE TEXT TO LIFE
SETH ZIELICKE
Acting really isn't about acting. It's about living. The best actors embody their character's entire being and live that character's life. But how do we get from reading about a character in a script to making that character actually come alive on the screen? The first half of this seminar explores how we can each use our unique abilities to bring characters to life. The second half illustrates the importance of making good acting choices as we reflect upon a story from early Christian literature.

THE CATWALK TO CHRIST
ROBERT GRASSESCHI
Robert John Grasseschi will share his testimony about being a former model/actor and the transforming power of Jesus Christ to launch people into their dreams and destinies.
He has just finished the first, full-time XP acting school. Robert will discuss the amazing spiritual and practical opportunities provided by this school. Robert will also be competing in the Actors, Models and Talent for Christ competition in Orlando this July. He will talk about AMTC and the opportunities this Christian-based company can give the aspiring model, actor, singer, dancer, or special individual to meet professionals from around the world.
What is the importance of taking back the media for God? "We are in a crucial stage in media. New technology gives everyone available media access 24/7. The believers' victory will vary depending on the degree that they renew their minds. The mainstream media is trying to control our minds to follow the ways of this world. We must provide a better alternative!!!"
Romans 12:2 "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."

CAMERA OPERATING - TECHNICAL, CRAFT, AND ART
JONATHAN NIXON
The art of photography involves the intuitive search for message, shape, form, texture, and visualization.
We usually glance at our surroundings as if we were flipping through a magazine, hoping for something to catch our eye. News and magazine headline writers spend their days trying to compose intriguing phrases that will slow us down and capture our attention for a moment. A good photographer develops the ability to look at a subject and recognize which aspects of it might make interesting images. Our photography should create visual headlines. Images that will catch the audience’s eye and make them slow down long enough to get our message.

CREATING EMOTIONAL RESPONSE - THE DIRECTOR'S TOOL KIT
JONATHAN NIXON
Good directors know how to create an emotional response in their audiences. Emotion is one of the most powerful tools that you can use to move your audience to action. Once you have defined your target audience, formed the message that you want to convey to that audience, you need to create an emotional response that will compel your audience to reply to your call to action. As a media production director, you have image, music, and words to create an emotion. As you start your creative process of directing, imagine the emotions that are stirred by the images, music, and words that you visualize. Inspiring images of a mother embracing a child, an orchestra building to a climatic refrain, or a moving speech by your lead actor, can all motivate your audience to smile, giggle, laugh, or cry. Remember to use emotion as one of your story telling tools. Your audience is more likely to respond on an emotional level than on an intellectual one.

BECKY FISCHER

GOD'S MEDIA ARMY - WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO
JONATHAN NIXON
“Why would you want to work in such a dark industry?” “It’s full of lost, wicked, nasty people.” “Just look at Hollywood, those people are a total mess.” “Stay away from that den of vipers!” As a believer, when you entered into a creative career within the Media industry, this is the kind of response that you get. Most of the church doesn't get it. Why do you want to be in the film of television business? As Christians we need to check our motivations.
There is one irrefutable fact: Media leads Culture. There was a time when media reflected the culture of the day. Remember those terrific movies by Frank Capra, “It’s A Wonderful Life” and “Mr. Smith Goes To Washington?” That was a time when media reflected our ethical and spiritual culture. Now, Media actually influences and drives our culture and usually in a very negative way. Movies, television shows and Internet content are now the forerunners of what our culture will become. Does that scare you? It scares me. It’s time that we as Christians start to influence media, so that our media will start to influence our culture in a positive way.
We are called to media because media needs Christian values. The best way for us to be an influence on our culture is for us to influence media. Movies, television, Internet content, music, video games, and all other entertainment and informational mediums need Christ-centered values to infiltrate their content.

LOCATION LIGHTING AND SOUND - TIPS AND TRICKS OF THE TRADE!
JONATHAN NIXON
The interplay of light and shadows allows us to see people, objects, and their environments. Lighting, shadows, and color create the mood of the environment in which we photograph our message. Good lighting calls for deliberate illumination, including what direction the lighting emanates from, what angle the light falls, whether the light is soft or harsh, what color the lighting has, and the control of the shadows and their relative transparency.
Field lighting, or location lighting, often extends to the control and augmentation of available light. Your lighting job is to use, manipulate, and control direct, and reflected sunlight, so that it yields, at least to some extent, to basic lighting principles. Most of the time you will have to deal with some kind of sunlight or skylight intruding on your shooting location. Both direct and reflected sunlight, and skylight, can be used very effectively in your field lighting situations.
The audio portion of your media production conveys important information about your message, and it also adds energy and structure. At first glance the production of sound seems much easier to achieve than the corresponding production of video. The audio portion of the production requires at least as much attention and skill as does the video. However simple or complex the production, pointing a microphone in the general direction of the scene at the last minute is not the way to go. You should consider the audio requirements of your production as an essential element of your media creation.
